April 8 - Happy Easter everyone.  We hope that you plan on spending time with your family or friends for this important day!

We were up early as usual.  We enjoyed our weekly bacon and egg day.  It is still very cold here, but we think it will get warmer today.

Around 10:30 a.m. we left in the car, to go to Burton.  Burton is just east and a bit south of Flint, MI.  We wouldn't be going right into Burton, but will be close.  We are going to have lunch at the Ponderosa there, and then go to Meijers at G-2333 S Center Rd, Burton, MI 48519 Phone (810) 744-4000 to purchase some wreaths for Doug's parents and brother's graves.  This is a yearly tradition.  We like buying the wreaths here in Michigan, as they have a real nice selection of them, at reasonable prices.  They will be placed on the graves on Mother's Day.  We don't get to my home town in Haliburton Highlands very often, so we are unable to do that for my parents.

If you are looking for a place to have lunch in a new area, here is a link for you to lunchbug

We did have our lunch at the Ponderosa on Court St. in Burton.  We have ate a numerous Ponderosa Steak Houses and have always found them to be a good place to eat.  This was not one of those pleasing experiences.  We arrived just before the lunch hour, so everything should have been fresh and hot for the noon  hour lunch.  This was Easter Sunday, so everything should have been at its best.  The place was not busy, but there were several people eating.  We were having the Easter Sunday Salad bar.  We quickly became disappointed.  The lettuce was limp, the sliced mushrooms were dark brown.  Everything was downhill from there, this is not a fresh salad bar.  The hot tables were dried out, mushy or cold.  The dessert table was okay, but limited to what Ponderosa normally offers.  This is not a Ponderosa Steak House that we will rush back to.

We returned to the Outdoor Adventures, Lakeshore and to our coach for the rest of the day.  We still had a frozen gray water outlet, so Doug had taken the small heater out and left it heating that basement area before we had left.  When we returned it was thawed out and he was able to drain the gray water tank.

The snow is starting to melt and we look forward to warmer weather this coming week.  We have had enough of winter, even though it has only been a few days long for us.

See you next week and enjoy the rest of your Easter.

April 7 - The weather remains extremely cold here for this time of year.  Even though we have taken some precautions, our gray water drain has froze.  The black is okay.  We hope that there is no damage to the gray valve.  We will find  out in the next couple of days.

The weatherbug tells the story better then I ever could.  It was only 19 when we got up this morning.

We have a few more cold days before spring returns.  It can't come to soon for us.  It has been snowing off and on all day.  Thankfully, the snow has melted off of the streets and isn't accumulating very quickly anywhere else.  We know spring is coming, just wish it would hurry up.  We read that this cold weather is extending down even into Tennessee, so even if we had of stayed in Kentucky, it wouldn't have helped much.

There are a few hardy souls camping in their tent trailers.  Now that is being dedicated.  We think we will pass on that form of camping.  We wish them luck.  The kids are not bothered by the cold.  They do enjoy the freedom of being here at this park.  They were sliding on the streets and running all around, bundled up and loving the clean white snow to play in.  I can remember doing that many moons ago.  It was fun then.

Next year, if all goes as planned, we won't be back in Michigan until after April 10th.  That still gives us a couple of days here in Michigan and we will also have two weeks in which to get all the income tax stuff prepared and away.  No more cold weather for us, if we can avoid it.

April 5 - Both furnaces ran steady, all night.  We are nice and warm, but just looking outside makes us want to start the coach and go back south, at least as far as Kentucky.  This is what weatherbug.comis forecasting for us.  Look at the temperature for this morning.  The ground is white with snow.  More could be on the way.  Lets hope it doesn't happen.

Some of our friends are on the road, driving north in near blizzard conditions, on the south-east side of Lakes Ontario and Erie.  We hope they arrive safely home, with no mishaps.  We are lucky to be parked here and plugged in to all the electricity we need, with a full propane tank.  Spring will come back sooner or later.  We hope it is sooner.

This is another day that we will be staying inside.  We aren't used to these cold temperatures and are really feeling the affects of the cold.  We sure hope it warms up soon.

April 4 - The wind is howling, the temperature is going down below the pump handle.  What are we doing in Michigan?  The next week is supposed to be below normal temperatures for this time of year.  It has rained and now a light snow is falling.  It is supposed to get down into the low 20's tonight.  We hope nothing freezes.  We will leave the cupboard doors open under the kitchen and bathroom sinks and hope that nothing freezes.  We will also leave the hotwater tank on, to help it to avoid freezing.  Brrrr it is cold and getting colder.  We won't be going far in this cold weather.  We are not used to it being this cold.  We hope that there is some interesting stuff on TV, as we will need it to avoid cabin fever.

We have experienced everything from strong winds to hail, to snow.  This is a look at the weather from where we sit.

you can see the ice pelts on the ground and then just before we called it a day, the snow was getting heavier

April 3 - The thermometer continues to go down, instead of up.  We have had rain and gusting winds.  We stay warm in the coach and watch the weather get worse, as the day goes on.  We did some grocery shopping and will wait and see what happens, weather wise.

It was a good day for a walk around the park.  I am getting behind in my walks, so will go for one today.  It will be interesting to see all the changes that have been made here, since last fall.  They continue to upgrade this park.  Every time we come here, we can see many improvements.  It is already a nice park, but they are making it bigger and better.  If you are in the area, check out Lakeshore just north of I-69 on the Irish Road.  It is an American Campground Inc. Park.

April 2 - The weather is getting colder.  it is not supposed to be going this way.  What happened to spring?  Numerous fifth wheels, motorhomes, trailers and even a tent trailer, have left.  There are still many more units that are here, without their owners, waiting for this coming Easter weekend.  The weatherman isn't predicting very good weather.  I think Mother Nature is playing an April Fool trick on us.  We have had all the nice weather, now it is back to winter, for one final blast of cold air from the north.  We are lucky though. We are parked here until next Tuesday, with a full propane tanks.  Lets hope Mother Nature is a bit kinder to us, then is being predicted.
