April 16, 2006 - We met Jody and Rachael in Blenheim and had breakfast at the Venus De Milo restaurant.  We have been eating at this restaurant for close to 40 years.  We always enjoy our meals at this family restaurant.  The same family has owned it for as long as I can remember.

After breakfast we went out to Evergreen Cemetery and placed flowers on Doug's Mom, Dad and brother Elvin's graves.  This is something we do every spring.

We returned to Arkona and I started preparing dinner.  Jody is coming for our Easter Sunday dinner, but Rachael is working.

Jody arrived and we had a nice visit and dinner of ham and scallop potatoes.  I don't make scallop potatoes very often, but we always enjoy them when I do.  It is an easy crockpot recipe.  Look for it on our recipes page.

The rest of the week was Income Tax time.  I do income tax for various family members and this year was no exception.  The last income tax completed every year is my own.  That way I know that the family's income tax has been taken care of.

April 21 - We went to London to have my photo taken for my Health Card.  The card had expired on my birthday back in March and it was important that I get my new photo taken, so that the new card could be issued.  I walked in a bit early, but that was okay.  They took my info, looked at my old card, sent me to another counter to have my photo taken and we were on our way.

Since we were in London we decided to do a bit of family tree research at the London Library in the Middlesex Room.  We take every opportunity that we can to spend time at this fantastic family research room.

Soon it was time to head back to Arkona.  It has been a beautiful, warm, spring day.

April 22 - Rain pity pattered on the roof all night.  The furnaces came on early this morning, signaling a change in the weather.  It has really cooled off, but is all part of spring.

April 23 - Today we relaxed and enjoyed natures display of spring and the great awakening after the winter.

April. 24 - We drove over to Moore Township and paid for our seasonal site.  We are at Branton Cundick this summer again.  We will be on site 14, which gives us a fantastic view of the St. Clair waterway.  We are looking forward to seeing the big freighters and all boat traffic, through our windshield and from our site, all summer.

April 25- Our two weeks here at Rock Glen, Arkona, ON has come to an end.  Our Resorts of Distinction Plus Membership allows for two, two week stays at each ROD Plus resort.  These stays are free with our membership, so we use ROD plus as much as we possibly can to conserve our $$$'s.

We are moving on to another free parking spot.  We are going to our home address in Tilbury.  We will be parked in Jody and Rachael's driveway for the next week to 10 days.

The weather has turned back to late winter.  The furnaces has been working hard to keep us warm.

April 26 - We woke to a heavy frost on the windshield of the car.  Winter doesn't want to leave quite yet.  Spring is struggling to take control of the weather, but soon Spring will rule the day.

Today is a visit to Dr Curran's office in Windsor.  Doug goes to see about his left eye today.  Dr. Curran scheduled the removal of the cataract on Doug's left eye for June 9th.  Soon Doug should have excellent vision again.  We are both looking forward to it.  Everything is looking sunny including the weather.

April 28th - We have been enjoying family time.  Jody and Rachael are both working, but we are enjoying their company in non working hours.  We always enjoy the time with them.

We went into Chatham and had supper with good friends Margo and Butch at Jersey's, a local sports bar.  The food is very good there, but the portions are large enough for two people.  We enjoyed our supper and visit.

We are down to the last two days in April.  We are supposed to move to Branton Cundick on May 5th, but have received an email from Ralph, a neighbor at the park, telling us that there is an electrical problem and he doesn't think the park will open on May 5th.  We will have to wait and see.

April 30th slid away into history and May 1st is on its way.  Warmer weather is around the corner.  See you next month.
