Aug. 16-31, 2006 THIS BLOG IS NOW IN REVERSE, last post at the top. Aug. 31 Went to Chatham this morning. First stop was Staples. I was pleasantly surprised and relieved. Sarnia Staples had been in contact with Tyler and Tyler in Chatham had his manager look at the damage. She told him to get it fixed. Order the parts and install them. They had come to the conclusion that my computer was damaged in shipping from Chatham to Sarnia. Tyler phoned Sarnia and found out Scott had been talking to the District Manager and had the parts on order already. Tyler then arranged with me to take the computer into Sarnia when the parts come in, to have it repaired. Fantastic. They apologized for the inconvenience and said that they hoped to have it all taken care of in the next couple of days. I am happy and impressed. Way to go Staples. Two thumbs up. I would have more up, but only have two 8) Hopefully they will have the repair parts in within the couple of days they said it would take. I will let you know. Now that I can focus on somthing else again, it started out a real cool morning, but is now beautiful. there are clouds building to the south west. We hope that it doesn't rain all weekend. The park is full, again. Twice this summer. Joan, my friend and 20+ year seasonal resident said on the Civic Weekend that she had never seen the full sign up here before. It is good to know that people have finally discovered our gem. We are going to Auburn, MI on Sunday to see our cousins Pat and Charlie. It will be a good day. My sister Connie is very sick. I received a telephone call last night. I hope and pray that her condition isn't as serious as I was told last night. She needs our prayers. She is facing a very difficult and serious operation. The doctors have located a tumor between her brain and her esophagus. They are operating as soon as a team of surgeons can be assembled. You are in my thoughts and prayers Con. Get well soon. Tomorrow is the 1st day of September and our departure date for the south is getting closer. The winds are saying cold days are coming. Aug. 30 It has been a few long days since my last post. I have
learned a few things since then. I have been posting my daily logs using
Front Page 2000 directly from my computer, and uploading to my new website, with
a link from my blog at www.rvingsales.blogspot.com to this site. Until next time Aug. 27 It is another gray, damp, sometimes rainy morning. The faithful are out walking their dogs. the dogs don't care if it is raining or not. When they want out, their faithful owners have to take them. I was able to survive my last day of work, upstairs, at my old place of employment. The day went quite well. After work Friday, we met friends Margo and Butch and took them out to dinner at Jersey's. Jersey's is a very popular Chatham place to gather for good conversation, food and a drink if you want it. We have went there several times and the food is always good. Saturday was a lazy day. I made coffee and toast for Doug and told him I would be back in an hour. Then I went back to bed 8). It was actually a couple of hours before I became conscious again. When I woke up this time, I was ready to take on the day. I worked on this web site, some house work and then went into Corunna for gas for the car and some groceries. It was a nice relaxing drive. I drove in and back with the window down. Problem is I keep forgetting to take my camera with me, now that I have the batteries all charged up again. There were some great shots of freighters on the river and other interesting scenes. I will glue a reminder to my forehead to remind me to take the camera 8) Doug went to bed at his usual time last night and watched TV in comfort. I went at my usual time and was just snuggling down when we heard BANG, Pop, Bang, BANG, POP, Bang and on and on. What on Earth. Up from my bed I flew! Out to the kitchen (haven't I heard something like this somewhere before?) Anyway, looked out the window and couldn't see anything, all was quiet, waited a few minutes and still nothing. Went back to bed, started to settle down again and all of a sudden ---BANG, Pop, Bang, BANG, POP, Bang, Bang, BANG, BANG........Out to the front I flew, sat down on the couch, so that I could see out the window, under the awning, twisting my head from side to side like a bobble head doll, suddenly there was the site that I thought I would see. Fireworks! Why now, and what is that fifth wheel and tree doing, blocking my view. They must be having Sombra Days. It is a tiny little village, but they had a HUGE fireworks display. It continued for over 30 minutes. Beautiful. What an unexpected treat. As the last fireworks exploded with an extra loud BANG, BOOM, Mother Nature joined in with her own display. The rain started, the thunder rolled and Mother Nature lit up the night with her own personal fireworks display. AWESOME. Sorry Sombra, even though you Fireworks were excellent, no one can compete with Mother Nature. She wins every time! A friend Lee asked on Friday if we ever became worried about our personal safety, with all the wild weather around. I told her No, when our time is up, then it is up, no matter where we are at. She then asked about this spring when we were in the area when the tornados went through Tennessee. I had planned on taking the Natchez Trace up through to Memphis and then take I-40 east to Nashville. At the last minute, for some reason, I made the decision to continue on I-20 until we came to I-65 North. Intuition, (our Guardian Angel whispering to me? ) said to stay on I-20 and we did. The next day as we were inching our way through Nashville, a couple of truckers were talking and the one said he had came across I-40 the previous day. He then continued on to say he had seen six tornadoes, on his drive across from Memphis to Nashville. Our GA was working to keep us safe. We weren't aware of the severe weather problems, that were all around us, all day. We could see the storm clouds and had driven in light rain at times, but nothing severe. We had pulled off I-65 North, and chose the campground because it was easy off, easy on. It was also down in a valley. We had never stayed there before. It was the one that we found and decided to stay at. When I went to check in, the manager was all flustered and worried. It was at that time that I learned about the tornadoes. Our GA had directed us here. We found our site and plugged in for the night. We had a quiet dinner and an early evening. We were in bed early. We just dropped off to sleep when the sirens started. The manager came to our door and told us the clubhouse was open. We went up for a couple of hours, met several fellow RV'ers, and came back to our coach home and went to sleep. The manager had told us the sirens were 10 miles away. They must have been very uncomfortably loud for people in the area. The next morning we learned there had been tornados sited all around us. Once again we had found our safe haven by listening to our intuition (or is it listening to our Guardian Angel?) you decide. We are living our lives the way we want. We are not going to let fear stop us from going and doing what we want to do. We live by the theory - We are each given so much time on this earth and when we have used it up, then and only then, we are on our way to another place. Until then we plan on living life to the fullest. NO FEAR!
Aug. 24 Yesterday and today were very long, tiring working days. Only one more to go and then I have another week off 8). Then I work 1 day and have 6 off. I like that ratio. I am working on a photo album for this site. Just have to have the time to do it, but it is coming soon. I also have a bunch more info to add about our trip to Arizona and Texas last winter. I had better get at it , because soon we will be leaving for the south again. Time flies when we are having fun. Aug. 22 Another beautiful day. Started out a little on the cool side, which made it great for our daily walk. By the time we got back to the park, it was becoming quite warm. Doug is continuing to put Gel Gloss on the coach. This stuff gives the fiberglass a real nice shine and it also protects the fiberglass. It is very easy to apply, so it is an RV'ers friend. I am continuing to work on the website. I have opened up RVcruising Online Mall with many shopping solutions for family and friends of Canadians. You can order numerous items through my Market place and have them delivered to the Canadian address of your choice, or download the e-books to your computer. We hope that Canadian travelers, friends and family members of Canadians, will take advantage of this site to deliver gifts or purchase gifts for your loved ones. Please check it out. I will be going into Chatham tomorrow, so will be able to purchase some new re-chargeable batteries for my camera. I really miss being able to take photos. The Tall Ships were on the river, and I was not able to capture the moment. Tomorrow is the first of three work days. I know that I will survive them, but Friday night seems a long way away. We are going to have dinner with friends Butch and Margo, Friday night, so will look forward to that moment. Aug. 21 We had a lazy day yesterday. I read blogs and journals. I realized I am getting behind in my reading by working on this site. I am enjoying building this site. There is much work to do, but it will come together in time. I added more of the journal entries and photos for Nov. 16-31, 2005 which includes our first impressions of Arizona and photos we took at that time. The photos are thumbnails, so to view a larger version, click on the photo. The page loads faster with the thumbnails. Today the fog was again clouding the river. Joan and I decided to go for our walk anyway. Partway down the road, we walked out of the fog and into sunshine. The sunshine followed us home. Our friends Peggi and John from www.rvliving.net were featured on the History channel this morning, in a program called Lifestyles. Joan and I were back from our walk in time, and I was able to sit down and enjoy the program. Work/play (they are both 4 letter words 8) ) continued on this site and I have also added more books to my Essential Books to RVers page. We hope that you have time to visit this important resource, if you are looking for info on this lifestyle. As many of us say "There is no life like it".
Tomorrow is a work day again. I am going to be a bookkeeper tomorrow. I wear many hats, it keeps life interesting. Aug. 19th Woke up this morning to a very gray day. Joan and I did not go for our walk because I woke up with a major headache. I believe that the weather is a major cause of it. Seconds after the decision was made it began to rain. Good decision. We had a relaxing, lazy morning. What a treat. The fog has closed in and we can't see the river. We have everything we need right here and will just enjoy the day. The two lawn chairs which belong to our neighbors across the street are sitting, waiting patiently for the sun and their owners to return. It has been a good day to catch up on my site. Aug 18thLast day of working downstairs, in August, at my place of sometimes employment today. Next week I am upstairs for three days, then no more work until Sept. YA! I enjoy work while I am there, but I also enjoy not working. I know I enjoy not working more then the working part. I do enjoy the challenges that come with my position down stairs. It is like playing a good game of Chess. We had home made fish (cod) and chips for dinner and then went and had a chat with Ralph and Gloria. We returned back to the coach and Doug watched wrestling. He had recorded the whole show, so will watch the rest in the morning. Soon it was lights out for the night
Aug. 17th we were up at our usual time - 6:30 a.m. Today we were scheduled for our physicals at our new Health Care Clinic. Jon Ann devoted a full half hour to each of our physicals. It is nice to have found someone who makes us feel like we are all on the same team when is comes to our health care. We are very lucky. We had several more task to take care of, while in Chatham. After leaving the Clinic we went to the pharmacy. Jon Ann had written a prescription for allergy medication for me. She didn't think it would be covered and it isn't, so back to the over the counter version. After leaving the pharmacy we went into the Canadian Tire Store and purchased a "O" ring repair kit from the plumbing department. We needed some small "o" rings to repair our power washer. We then had a quick lunch, next stop was laundry. It was much easier to do today. It was much cooler today. Laundry is always difficult for me, because I have rotator cup syndrome in my right shoulder and I can feel it developing in my left shoulder also. The worst part is folding, my shoulders do not like to co-operate, but I make them do it anyway 8). It is a fine line to walk between keeping them moving and them freezing so that I can't move them. I have learn to recognize when they have had enough. That is another reason I will miss my post some days. My shoulders have said "enough" and they will not co-operate, so that I can use the keyboard. After we finished our laundry, we went to nearly every RVers favorite store - Wal*Mart. We purchase a few groceries and visited with our niece Rita, a manager of a Wal*Mart department. We then returned back to the river.
Aug 16th I was up early this morning and went for my walk with Joan. When I came back Doug wanted me to help him clean the sunscreens for the windshield and side windows of the coach. We have to take them down and give them a good scrubbing with dish soap and water to keep them nice and clean.
We put the windshield sunscreen on, then went to put the side windows on and
realized we had some wasp buzzing around the mirrors. I looked under the
mirror sunscreen and we had a small wasp nest attached to the underside of the
mirror. Doug is very allergic to the stings, so I suggested he go inside,
while I dealt with the nest. After the short delay, we replaced the
sunscreens and that was all of the outside work for today. The rest of the day I had some family matters to catch up on, so I didn't have time for a post.
