Jan. 27-28th - I have no idea where the day goes. We get up in the morning and before I have half of what I want to do finished, it is bedtime. Don't know how I ever had time to work 8-10 hours a day and still have a life. 8) We had decided to go to Trading
Post Flea Market 3100 US Highway 441 S We drove to Okeechobee using SR-70 east. It was a nice drive through ranch land. Usually people think of Florida as a vacation wonderland and never get off the main highways to "see what is out there in the country". There were dairy farms and ranch land, with lots of cows of every description, grazing on the winter grass. We found the flea market after a few wrong turns, on my part. We had come into Okeechobee two years ago, from Moore Haven and I had to orient myself to where we were now in relation to where we were two years ago. I finally gave up and got out the map It was easier that way, but not as much fun. We see all sorts of different sights when we follow our nose. There wasn't half the vendors there this time, as when we went there in January and February of 2004. Doug didn't find the hats and there was nothing else we wanted, so we left. We walked through all the vending areas, stopping to look, at this and that and still took less then an hour to see everything. We returned to the park on 98 and saw even more ranches. They were huge, with huge fancy gates and the name of the ranch on the arch above the gates. There were also some very large sod farms. Who would have thought? Sunday I woke up with a thumper of a headache, so I was very lazy all day. I cooked the meals and rested. I don't know if it is allergies, the weather or a combination of the two. I hope it is gone tomorrow. . Jan. 26th - We were up at our usual time. This has to be the coldest morning we have had in Florida. It was 40F when we got up. Doug says there was frost on the car, but I didn't have my glasses on, so couldn't see if there was or not. By the time I put my glasses on, it was a very heavy dew. Both furnaces had come on during the night, several times. Spring is coming, but the weather man is still confused as to what the temperature should be. We are moving further north next week. I hope it doesn't stay cold very long. Doug watched his usual morning news and other morning programs, while I answered e-mail and read some blogs that I read every day. I found another one with some interesting info for Fifth Wheel owners - http://rvnow.blogspot.com/. The Jan. 24th entry is very interesting for Fifth Wheel owners. Some important info, which could save you have a very dangerous problem or accident. After Doug had watched his morning programs, we tackled the set-up of the new RCA Recorder. We had to take the wooden frame off the cabinet the TV is in, pull the TV out, connect the audio and video cables, put the TV back in the cabinet and TA DAH! drum roll please! We actually decided to make sure everything was working, the way it should, before we put the cabinet back together. Who says we don't get smarter, as we get older 8) ? Doug's idea, and it was working, we did get it set up on screen and we think we are going to like it. Now, if we had put the cabinet back together it wouldn't have worked. Isn't that the way of it? By lunch time the temperature was back up in the shorts range. People were out in their lounge chairs, soaking up the rays. The temperature is still sitting at 57F but the high humidity makes it feel much warmer. I will have to get some photos taken of the area. We are leaving here on Wednesday, so I need to get my photos taken of this area, real soon. Jan. 25th - I have received and e-mail from Canaca offering to change me over to their upgraded server. This site could be down 24 hours or so, until everything is switched over. I think that I will do that, as I will have better control of the site, with more options. It will make no difference to you, but hopefully will be better overall in the long run. I will be moving it this weekend, so if nothing works, just check back in on Monday. We went for a drive into Sebring today and Doug solved one of his problems. We record wrestling from the TV satellite on wrestling nights and then he watches it the next day. The VCR we have, is acting funny (no wonder! if that is the only thing I did was to record wrestling, I would be acting a little strange myself 8) ). Anything that interferes with his wrestling is a big NO, NO. We need a new system. We bought this VCR in July or Aug. The tracking is way off, with no solution to be found. The heads are probably wore out or out of whack from him never taking the tape out of it. Pressure from the tape on the heads, while bouncing down the road, can't be good for it. Our solution was to eliminate the need for tapes, DVD's or whatever else comes along. We went to Wal*Mart and purchased a RCA DVD Recorder with 80 GB DVR, which gives us up to 120 hours of recording time on a Hard Disc Drive. Now the fun begins. My brain feels real fuzzy after the past few days (called a major headache, in general terms) because of dealing with the web server and internet satellite change, now I have to deal with setting up a NEW TV RECORDER! I am on electronic over-load. We disconnected the offending VCR, connected the new recorder, opened the manual and learned that we had to connect the audio/video cables to the TV for it to work. We had a standard G-6 cable connected right now, but that isn't good enough for this new recorder. Well, it is not going to get done today. We have to disassemble the TV compartment to get the TV out and it is to big of a task to tackle tonight. Better to do it first thing in the morning. Now, is Doug going to stay awake long enough to watch his American Chopper episode or will there be another solution? Tomorrow will tell. Stay tuned. The Satellite Internet change over had a few more gliches, but with a bit more head scratching I was able to remedy the problem and all is well in that department. Now is it a train, or a plane, NO! it is my data flying through space at the speed of light 8)! Ya! Jan. 24th - Well, I am now getting e-mail from the website. Now, however, the satellite internet is acting like a 14/4 modem on dial-up and the signal is coming and going. The numbers for the signal strength is good, maybe the storm in Maryland is having an effect on the service.. I e-mailed Armand and he is going to switch me over to the G-16 satellite. As soon as that is accomplished I am hoping the problems are behind us for awhile.
Jan. 23 - The satellite internet went out completely. Now I need to get another connection to the net, to check e-mail, and find a solution to the satellite internet problems. After scratching my head for a few moments (this is a lot like massage the brain), I remembered that I had a coupon good for one week from Tengointernet. I searched my hard-drive, couldn't remember what file I had saved it in, found it, signed onto the Tengointernet service in this park and was receiving the e-mail I had been waiting for from Armand. I could have called him, but the cell service is the pits here, or I need a new cellphone with a better aerial. That is probably the case. Maybe I have dropped it once too often. Anyway, I had the e-mail I had been waiting for and now had the info to reset the modem from satellite I-8 to G-16. Armand had given me very detailed instructions and it was a breeze to follow, to change from the one satellite to the other. One of the best things about having 3i Communication Anywhere Internet is having it through Armand's business. His Tech support is so important and he is always there for us, whenever we need him. We are now enjoying being connected to the net 24/7 again and the speed is excellent. Yah hoo! We are happy again. Jan. 22nd a reader from England, who was here at the same park as we are, sent us an e-mail, saying he had found us on the Datastormusers map and was interested in looking at our Satellite internet system. We didn't receive the e-mail until the 23rd and returned it immediately. However, it sat in our outbox and went nowhere for 24 hours until we were able to connect using Tangointernt. He was flying out on the 24th however, and we were never able to connect. We would have enjoyed meeting him. Doug was looking forward to meeting him also, because he was from "over home". Sometimes things happen that we just don't have any control over. Jan. 23rd - I think that we are finally recovering from our fast trip north and back. I have been having problems with the satellite internet signal and also my web server for this site. It has been very frustrating, but sooner or later the problems will get corrected. I am not receiving any e-mail from the website, so if you have sent an e-mail I will return it, when the problem gets corrected. I have checked everything I can from this end, and will have to wait for Canaca to correct it at their end. This is the first problem we have had with both satellite internet connections and the website email program. Tech support is excellent with both, so the problem won't last long. Just frustrating right now. The e-mails are flowing back and forth, using our other e-mail address. It is always a good policy to have a web based e-mail address to have a back-up way of communicating. If it is a web based e-mail, you are also saving space on your harddrive. The only space your e-mail is using, is the ones you have saved to your harddrive. Today is also a good day for outside activities. Maybe by the time I come back in some of the tech problems will be solved. My fingers are crossed. Jan. 22, - We are getting really good at just lazing around. We have to get moving or we will seize up. The weather has been like the lazy hazy days of August and it is easy to fall into this mode. Marilyn from next door is very active with several exercise programs offered at this park. I had went with her to the water aerobics last week and went again myself on Saturday. Today is another water aerobics day. It is quite cool (in the 50's), so will be interesting to see how many go, and if we actually get into the pool. The water was cool getting in, but after a few minutes it felt fine. There were 34 of us in the pool for the water aerobics. It is a large pool and people circled the whole outer edge of the pool. The aerobics last ed for one hour, we had a very good workout in that time.
