Sunday the 18th was a day to just hang around the coach and stay warm. This is the coldest weather we have had all winter. The past few days has been cool to say the least and the nights have been colder. We received a warning from Weatherbug.com yesterday and it didn't look good for us. It looked like we were going to get some temperatures that we have tried our best to run away from. We didn't have much planned so thought that it would be a good day to watch the world go by, through the windshield of our home. Trouble is, not many people are moving around outside. We had met another couple from Ontario. He had stopped by a few days ago to look at our 3i Communications Internet dish and I was talking to her a couple of days later, as I walked back from a trip to the garbage bin. They were unable to get their Star Choice dish connected to the satellite. We took a bicycle ride over to their site to help them get it lined up. I had taken the co-ordinates from my Satellite finding program to help get it connected. He had very little experience with lining up a satellite dish, but was sure he had the right co-ordinates, which were quite different from the ones I had, especially on the skew. We wasted several hours trying to connect with his co-ordinates, but was never able to connect. He would not use the co-ordinates we took to try. The satellite program which I use has never failed us yet, but some people, even though they have asked for your help, just won't accept the help, if it is different from their belief. We left him not having his satellite TV, because he is so set in his ways that he is not able to accept anything, but his own belief. He will just have to forget about his Canadian news unless he decides to let others more experienced then he is, help him to get locked on to the satellite. Sometimes "paying it forward" is fun, other times it is just a case of "chalking it up to life's experiences". We have enjoyed "paying it forward" for many years before we ever heard the term, so this one set back won't change our enthusiasm for helping others. We usually have so much fun "paying it forward" . We can't stop now. We have found many RV'ers that "pay it forward" just for the fun of it and thinking it is the right thing to do.
Feb. 17- The park is full to capacity. There are even some parked in-behind us. It is quieter for us, with them back there, but it must be very noisy for them. Another park- Okeechobee Landing in Clewiston, FL has gone out of the membership system. They have left Coast to Coast Deluxe, AOR Gold and RPI. The parks that remain in the system are filled to capacity, because of the increased demand and fewer membership parks. We the members have fewer choices of destinations. If you are considering purchasing a park membership consider all the destinations you plan on using it. Your destination parks may not be there when you are ready to use them. There seems to be many more parks leaving the system, then is joining it. The park was having a Hamburg/Hot Dog night. We decided to try it out. Doug had two hot dogs, frenchfries and coleslaw and I had a hamburg, fries and coleslaw for a total of $8.00. They were very good. Feb. 16 - It was a very cool night. The furnaces came on several times to keep the coach warm. A park employee came around and gave us instructions to disconnect our water hose tonight and that they would be around to turn the tap on to a slow drip. It is going to be a cold night. We received an alert from the Weatherbug.com
Looks like most of Florida will be in the deepfreeze tonight. I hope that the citrus crops survive. Many people are finding places to put their plants inside tonight. We will leave the cabinet doors open under our sinks. We have been in colder weather then this and have been quite comfortable in our home on wheels. Feb. 15 - We had learned of a place in Center Hill that had sunscreen for sale, when we were at Webster West Fleamarket on Monday. Then we received an email from a friend which said they had patio rugs also at and excellent price. We decided to check the place out for ourselves. We are glad that we did. It is called Beasley Manufacturing INC. - Outdoor Fabric and is at 59 S. Maryland Avenue, Center Hill, Florida. Their phone number is 352 793 5035. They are open Tues., Wed., Thurs. 9-3. We learned that they close in April and go north for the summer. I am not sure where. They will ship to you. We purchase 20 feet of sunscreen in black to replace the white sunscreen we have for our windshield, for a total of $21 USD plus tax. We paid $400 USD for the white sunscreen when we purchased it back in 2003/2004. We have a problem keeping the white clean, so we thought we would try the black. Quite a savings. We will have to do the sewing ourselves, but for the difference in price we can do that. The drive over to Center Hill and back along CR-48 was interesting. It had several large gates leading to ranches. This road showed another side of Florida. Center Hill had many store fronts that were no longer open and hadn't been for many years. It was sad to see so many closed businesses in a town that looks to be slowly dying. Maybe all the growth that appears to be spreading across central Florida will also embrace Center Hill sometime in the near future. We returned back to the park and had lunch. After lunch I went to the
grocery store for a few items. Feb. 14 - Hope everyone had a Happy Valentine's Day. My Sweetheart took me to lunch at the Golden Corral in Eustis. We had enjoyable lunch and returned to our coach for the rest of the afternoon. Feb. 13 - Not every day is play day, in this lifestyle. Today was work day. We needed clean clothes. There is a nice clean laundry right here at the park. It doesn't take long to do the laundry when you can use four washing machines at a time. I gathered up the laundry and away I went. Doug stayed and watched his wrestling that I had recorded for him last night. Doug had four hours of wrestling to watch, so I was in no hurry to get the laundry completed. The laundry was finished long before the four hours of wrestling. Darn!! The rest of the day past in the usual way. We enjoyed a beautiful day, after the storm past. There was some heavy rain, thunder and lightning. Soon it was gone, replaced by a blazing sun. Feb. 12 - We were up early and on our way. It was sprinkling and cool, but that isn't going to stop us. We were on a mission to find Webster West Fleamarket, just scroll to the bottom of the page. Here is a listing for numerous fleamarkets in the Tampa Bay area.. If you want to find a flea market in any state, you will probably find it at www.fleamarketguide.com. They have hundreds of listings and a place where you can add the information, if you find one that is not listed on this site. We went south on US-27 and then west on State 50 until we reached CR-471 and then north until we reached Webster. It was easy to find the fleamarket. All roads seemed to go to the market or parking for the market. We drove on up and parked close to the market. They charge $3.00 to park in the market parking lot. Doug doesn't like walking and I knew he wouldn't want to walk from one of the further parking lots and walk the fleamarket, so we paid for the parking. The market is HUGE. There are a number of long roofs with open walls. They all had letters A, B, C, and on and on. Each covered area was about 100 feet long, with vendors on each side of the center aisle. Everything you could possibly want to purchase was there, if not there several times at different vendors. Doug hung in quite well. We walked through numerous rows, plus several rows of outside vendors. We didn't buy much. Doug found the hats he has been looking for all winter. I found a miniature broom and dustpan that I thought would be useful. If you like fleamarkets, this is the one to go to in this area. It is only open on Mondays. Doug soon tired of the crowds and walking. There was nothing else either of us wanted, so we decided it was time to leave. Locating the car could have been a problem. We didn't want to retrace our steps, we needed a short-cut back to the car. Luckily, I still have the ability to maintain my north, south, east and west directions. This comes from growing up in the country, with very few road signs or blazes on the trees to mark the trail, when in the bush. I led the way right back to our car, first try. There are no pictures because I forgot the camera. I had put new batteries in the camera and set it on the table, so that I would remember to take it. Surprise, I walked right by it and out the door, completely forgetting to pick it up. Next time I will put it in my purse, that way I am sure to have it when I want it. Anyway, if you are in the area and want a huge fleamarket to go to, Webster West Fleamarket is the one to go to. We returned home by SR-50 and SR-19 back to US-27. We like driving different routes. That way we see the whole picture, instead of just one little area of it. Back at the campground, I realized I should have stopped at the grocery store. After lunch I went to Leesburg for some groceries. Doug took the bicycles down, while I was away and we took a ride around the park. It is paved all the way around, so peddling is easy.
