Dec. 10 - 16, 2006 Dec. 16 - This week has flown by. I don't know where it has gone. We heard the pitter patter of rain drops on the roof off and on all night and also today. The rain never seemed to amount to much, and the sky remains overcast. There wasn't much movement around the park early in the day. Everyone had the same idea we had. Stay in, the rain will go away, then we will go outside. Our neighbor caught a good sized fish from the little pond in front of our couch. It was about 14 inches long and he showed it to several of the neighbors before releasing him back into the water to grow some more. I am not sure what type of fish it was. If I was in Ontario, I would say it was a big mouthed bass, but I am not a fisherman. Today at 2:30 p.m. I went to check our mail box for our mail Jody posted on Dec. 4th in Ontario. I will be doing the same thing again Monday because if never came. I spotted a US Postal employee with his little van delivering to the mail boxes in the park. I asked him who I could contact to track the express mail from Canada and he said he doesn't believe it can be tracked. He says the postal service is very busy right now and he would give it a few more days. It has been 12 days now for a delivery that was only supposed to take 5, oh well, I guess I have no choice but wait. One of our reader suggested a Fleamarket to us that we have never been to before. We are going looking for it tomorrow. We always like browsing through Fleamarkets. Tomorrow is another week and Christmas is only 9 days away. Time flies when you are having fun. One thing about this lifestyle, you are only bored if you want to be. There is always lots to do, you just have to look around and join in the activities. See you next wee! If you are researching your family tree I have added another link on the Genealogy page. It is a great site with lots of info and it is free. Dec. 14 - We cleaned the air filters on our air conditioners yesterday and they needed replacing. We went looking for replacement filters today and couldn't find any. Now what! Well, one thing about it, we RV'ers learn to be very resourceful. We went to Lowes and bought a pack of four furnace filters. We came home, cut the frames off two of them, because the frames were 1" thick and we only needed 1/4". With the frame off the filter fit very well. I think that these filters will do a better job then the low density foam filters that were in the air-conditioners. Time will tell. Our son sent mail to us on Dec. 4th by express post and every day this week I have been going to check the mail box, expecting the express delivery to be there. Today was another disappointment. No mail for us today either. I have tried tracking it, but my tracking number only shows it left Canada on Dec. 6th. Canada Post told Jody it would take 5 days to be delivered here. I guess it is coming by Pony Express instead of the United States Postal Service. I hope the same thing doesn't happen as last year. I sent a Christmas card to by brother and sister-in-law from Quartzsite, AZ the first week of December, 2005. They received it in September, 2006. Now that is a fast delivery - not!. Even Pony Express would have delivered it faster then that. Way to go United States Postal Service! I hope we receive it before we move at the end of the month. I know it is Christmas, but it is only coming from Southern Ontario to Florida, not Siberia or something. Tomorrow is another day and hopefully we will receive it then. We actually received a few showers today. We are supposed to get more tomorrow. I am not complaining because this is the first rain we have had since coming to Florida. The weather has been great and every once in a while a little rain must fall 8)
Dec. 13 - We have been enjoying the beautiful weather and finishing up our Christmas shopping. Christmas is less then two weeks away now. We learned today that our friends Peggy and John from www.RVliving.net will not be returning to Florida for awhile yet. They are running more medical test on John. They want to make sure everything is okay before they return to the sunny south. Our thoughts and prayers are with both of you Peggi and John. Our feathered friend keeps returning for his computer lessons. I just don't know if I want him practicing on my keyboard. I think his beak would be the downfall of it all. He is also interested in our satellite internet. See for yourself.
Doug has finished decorating the coach and we think it looks fairly good.
We received more disappointing news today. We were looking forward to our son and daughter-in-law coming down after Christmas and it doesn't look like it is going to happen this year. Jody has to work through the holidays. They might find time sometime before we head north for the summer, so we will wait and see. We look forward to them coming to stay with us for a few days. Dec. 12 - Christmas is around the corner and everyone is in a shopping frenzy to purchase that just right item. Some of my Sponsors are doing there best to help eliminate some of the stress and worry. You can check them out here We received our Christmas present early this year. We have been debating whether we needed a GPS or not and Walmart had a great deal online for a Delorme Earthmate LT-20 Receiver GPS and software which hooks up to my notebook computer using USB. We received it yesterday and I installed the software, let the GPS lock onto us and then spent the best part of the day becoming familiar with all the components of the software. We hope it works, looks like it will do a fine job because it located us right down to the name of the street we are on in this campground. How neat is that! I thought that it might show us to the west of the street we come in on to get to the campground, so it far surpassed our expectations. The price was right also at under $100.00 USD including tax and shipping. Several of my sponsors have some fantastic Christmas savings for you and you can check them out here
