Dec. 4 - 10, 2006

Dec. 10 - We decided to do something different today.  We had our usual Sunday morning breakfast of bacon and eggs and then headed north.  We went to the Fleamasters Fleamarket at 4135 Dr. Martin Luther King Blvd in Fort Myers.  We got there early because Doug wanted us to get a parking spot close to one of the entrances.  He hates walking and thought that he would get enough of it walking around inside the flea market.  There is over 900 vendors and covers 40,000 sq. ft.  That is more walking then Doug normally does in a week or two.  It wasn't crowded this early on a Sunday morning, so we were able to walk around and look at stuff without being in the way, or others being in ours.  By the time the crowds started, we were on our way out with a few purchases.  The best was the fresh fruit and vegetable stands near the exits.

We came back to the coach and enjoyed a quiet day.  We did have a visitor that wanted his computer lesson, or maybe it was how to assemble my satellite dish that he wanted to check into.  What do you think?

This guy loves the picnic table view of things.  He is really curious about the satellite dish also.  I have it bungey corded to the picnic table because the park has restrictions on where you are allowed to put stuff.  This works quite well.

We also had other visitors.  They come along and keep the lawn clean of any insects or whatever else they eat.  There is always nine of them in the group.  Three of them were around the unit beside us, so they missed getting their photos taken.  You can see the one as a white blob at the top of the satellite dish.

Just another day in paradise.

Dec. 8 - We woke up today to very cool weather.  It never reached 70F today.  We haven't been doing to much the past few days.  Yesterday we decorated the couch for Christmas and today I finished the Spirit of the Suwannee Christmas lights display.  They have 5 million lights on display.  See Nov. entry for times and cost.  It is well worth some effort to get to this park and see this fantastic display.

We also took a drive to Camping World.  I bought a Trailer Life RV Parks & Campground Navigator CD set.  Much lighter then the paper directory.  Much easier to find the campgrounds also.

The wind has been very strong today and the campground here does not want anything put in the ground.  I have the satellite dish anchored to the picnic table but it is being knocked out by the wind, so I will have to line it back up tomorrow to get this posted.  With luck, I can have this published before noon tomorrow.

Dec. 5 -  The furnace never came on during the night, but it is cooler this morning.  As I write this the thermometer is showing 68 F.  Still much warmer then the 18F in Southern Ontario right now.

The construction guys where here shortly after 8 a.m. to connect the electric to the new park model.  Our power went out and we decided to go Christmas shopping.  I am not in the mood to do my Christmas shopping yet, so we didn't accomplish much.

We returned in time for lunch and the power was back on.  We had lunch and I have been working on the web page updating everything.  You can check the temperature of our present location on  the home page.  I have Christmas cards to address and get in the mail, so I had better get at them and get them done.

Dec. 4 - Laundry day, need I say more?  They do have three separate laundries here, so there was no waiting.  The machines seem to be well maintained also, with no clanging and banging like I have experienced at a few of the parks.

We also watched a new double wide park model be placed on the site, one over from us.  They have a back deck on the unit that extends well out towards the pond.  It is a nice looking unit, but dwarfs several of the other units around this little pond.  There goes the neighborhood.  8)
