We started this week like we ended last week. Just hanging out and enjoying the weather. This is our last week here and it is time that we got out and looked around a bit more. Doug found lots to look at, and we have added another page to What is Doug doing at What's Doug doing 5. We did some grocery shopping and one day we went for a drive down to Brownsville on US-281, across on US-83 and back up US-77 to SR-106 and back to Lazy Palms. It was an interesting drive. Here are a photo we took of a church on our drive.
Another day, while going back to see the old trucks Doug had
spotted, we came
up behind a wagon train as we were going north on US-281. As usual, it is
a window shot that I took. What fun. I would like to join
them. I grew up on a farm in central Ontario and we had a riding stable called Sportsman's Bay Riding Stable, just north of Minden, Ontario. This reminded me of those days. We never rode our horses on the road unless then had got through the fence on our 500 acre farm. It is very hard on a horses feet unless they are wearing shoes. The asphalt and cement acts just like a giant nail file, filing away the protective rim on a horses foot very quick.
Feb. 25th rolled around and we were on our way to Bayview in Rockport, Tx. It is a ROD Plus park, so no campground fees for two weeks - Yah!! This was not one of my better days. I don't know if I have the flu or if it is allergies or what, but I feel real bad. Very seldom do I feel this sick, but today is one of the days. We drove through Corpus Christi, then north on US-181. It was a good road and we were at Bayview in good time. None to soon for the way I felt though. It was a major choir just to get out of the coach and go sign in at the office. Doug doesn't want any part of signing in. He doesn't like any part of paper work, no matter how easy it is. I crawled (figuratively) back to the coach and we went to park. The only thing I did for the next two days was to rest, make Doug's meals and shiver or sweat. Whatever I had was awful. I wanted diet ginger ale, but was way to sick to go after it and Doug said he wouldn't be able to find a store. I think it was more a case he thought he would get lost and unable to find his way back. He is not a map reader and can get turned around in a parking lot. He just can't seem to keep his north, south, east and west straight. I lived on water for four days. I will never be without diet ginger ale again. It will be part of my medicine chest. I tried self medicating and on the fourth day I thought of Benadryl. Within a couple of hours, my stomach had settled enough for me to have some toast and tea. I will remember that one to try, if I am feeling like this again. We went on a few drives in this area, but after not eating for four days, I didn't feel like doing much, for several days. I was very weak and light headed. I hope I never have that again. The last day of the month still finds me down. I am starting to feel better, but I am sure that it will be a few more days before I am back to normal. Lets hope this coming month I feel better. It isn't fun feeling down in paradise. Terry is the oldest in my family, my only brother and it is his birthday today. Happy Birthday Brother!
