Jan. 13, 2007 - This will be another long day. The funeral is this morning and 11. Wanda had phoned last night and asked Doug to be a Pallbearer. He said that he would. We arrived at the Church at 10:15 a.m. Wanda had said to be there then. Jody and Rachael had come with us. We entered the Church and how our final visit with Betty. Soon her husband Bud arrived and said his final farewell. The Church filled to capacity and it was a memorial funeral. I am sure that Betty is proud of all the involvement of her nieces and nephew Perry. We followed her to her final resting place at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim. After the funeral we all attended a luncheon and our Nephew Doug and friend Laura wanted to visit more. We all decided to meet at the Countryside Restaurant in Chatham on Park Street. The six of us had an enjoyable lunch and visit. Jody, Rachael, Doug and I returned to Tilbury. Tomorrow will be another long day as we return to Florida.
Jan. 12, 2007 - We drove into Chatham. First we had the oil changed on the car, then we went to Wal*mart to have our left back tire checked. It is the General tire that Riverside GMC dealer in Wallaceburg replaced for us last April. The tire had never been balanced. We are not surprised. We replaced three of the General tires after less then 35,000 kms. They just thumped and bumped and felt like they were going to shake the car apart. What a cheap tire GMC puts on their cars. We had the same problem with the Grand Am, but did get a few extra miles from the first tires on it. While the tire was being checked out we went to see if our Niece Rita was working. She was and we were able to have a quick chat with her. She was very surprised to see us. Next it was time for breakfast. The Chatham Wal*Mart has a MacDonalds. We had a quick breakfast there and went back to pick up the car. Wal*Mart had also checked the other tires, which they had replaced for us and balanced one of them along with the General tire. The car road a lot better. We decided we should go over to Blenheim to see what was happening with regard to the funeral for our friend Betty. We went into Jack's the local meeting place and a good place to eat. Debbie and Gerry were there along with our cousin Marie. We ordered lunch and visited with our family. Everyone was still in a bit of shock because of the unexpected death of Betty. We told them that we would be back tonight for the Wake. We returned to Tilbury to have some time with Jody and Rachael. Jody is working midnights so we didn't hang around this morning in case we stopped him from getting to sleep. He has a difficult time sleeping, and it doesn't take much to wake him. We visited with them a couple of hours, then got ready to go back to Blenheim for the Wake. We were back in Blenheim early. We stopped at Venus De Milo for dinner. After dinner we called Doug's sister and asked them if they wanted to meet us for coffee. She said they would be right up. Half an hour later they still hadn't came so we decided to go to their place. They had company drop in right after we had called them. We said that we would see them at the Wake and left. We went to the Funeral Home. Many family members and friends were there. Betty was one of 13 children. All of her siblings and their families were there except for her two sisters who had pre-deceased her. We stayed until about 8 o'clock and returned to Tilbury. Everyone was surprised that we had arrived so soon and were happy to see us there. We told them we had to be there for Betty. Jan. 11, 2007 - We were up and away before dawn. I was back at the wheel after Doug had drove around Atlanta, GA yesterday. He doesn't like driving this car and I find that I am spending more and more time behind the wheel. We stopped for lunch in Renfro Valley, KY. We filled the car with gas again. It gets great gas mileage, but the gas tank is so small that we find it necessary to fill the tank twice a day. The miles piled up behind us and soon we were driving into winter. We were very lucky with the roads staying free of ice and snow for the compete trip. We arrived at the border in Detroit around 4 p.m. and were in Tilbury our our son and daughter-in-laws home by 5 p.m. It had been and 11 hour driving day for me. We were glad to be home, just wish that it was for a different reason. Jan. 10, 2007 - We were up early and on our way north with the car. We drove up US 27 to SR 66 west. We were driving this road for the first time in the dark. I was driving and we were wanting to reach I-75 north to be on our way north and back on to familiar roads. I was watching the speed limit, but not close enough. Suddenly there was an blue light illuminating the interior of the car. O, Oh! Just what I need. We pulled over, and a young Florida Trooper appeared at my window. He asked for my licence and insurance and then proceeded to tell me I had been driving a WHOLE 8 MPH over the speed limit. I explained to him we had never been over this road before, had been watching my speed, but obviously not close enough, and that we were on our way to Ontario to a funeral. He looked at my licence and insurance card, then said "I am sorry for your loss, watch your speed, have a good day". Thank-you Mr. Trooper. We did not want to start our trip home this way. The rest of the day was tiring but uneventful. We made good time once we reached I-75 and stayed in Chattanooga, TN Wednesday night. We are way behind with our posting and will be catching up in the next few days. Just wanted to let everyone know that we have been back in Ontario for a couple of days. A very good friend of Doug's past away last Tuesday and we left for Ontario on Wednesday. We were back in Ontario by Thursday at 5 p.m. and were able to attend the funeral because our Niece's Fiance' let us know in time to attend. So many time we hear about the funeral of Family or Friends after the fact and are unable to attend. Gerry let us know in time and were able to go. We are very tired tonight and will catch up the rest within the next few days. Today is Jan. 15th, our Son Jody's and Rachael's 10th wedding anniversary. Happy Anniversary Jody and Rachael. Jan. 9 -
Jan. 8 - We are getting cabin fever, staying around watching this refrigerator. Eight o'clock this morning I was on the telephone calling Carl. He said he was unable to contact Dometic on Friday and they don't open until about 9:30 for tech support. This morning walked along the canal from Lake Josephine. I will take my camera tomorrow. This is a well used path, that I was unaware of, until this morning. This morning was close to two miles. Tomorrow morning I will walk earlier. I looked like a boiled lobster by the time I came back to the coach. It was HOT and HUMID. Carl phone around 10:30 and said that Tech support thinks if is the electronic board under the switches for controlling the electric/propane and temperature controls, at the top of the refrigerator. He has a small refrigerator to loan us, because the part won't be in for three days. He delivered it to us shortly after noon. How nice is that? We plugged it in outside, and will be able to keep some food cool, without the worry of it spoiling. Ours should be repaired by Thursday. Our fingers are crossed. The time spent here, with no place to go, hasn't been wasted. I have started some new pages, which I hope you will find of some use. They are Computer Help and RV related recalls. These pages will continue to grow as new information is added to them. If you have heard of any recalls, email us and we would be happy to post them on this page. Jan. 7 - Sunday morning started out the same as many other Sunday mornings. We had Bacon and Eggs for breakfast. We met some of our neighbors on the opposite side of the street. We find everyone so much more friendly here. Friendly people makes a big difference when it comes to our enjoyment of a campground. This campground is also a small community, but everyone are happy and enjoying themselves. My walk was a bit longer today. The humidity is very high and walking is a challenge. By the time I had completed just over a mile, I felt like I had been in a sauna for an hour. It would be nice if my effort should up as smaller numbers on the weigh scale. Never has in the past, so don't know why it would now though 8). It was overcast at times, but the rain never came. We are enjoying great weather this winter. Our furnace has not been on since early December. Our air-conditioner is doing all the work here with the climate control.8) We are waiting to find out what is happening with regards to our refrigerator. Carl said that he would call Domentic to find out what they think is wrong with the air-conditioner. We will have to wait until tomorrow.
