July 2005 Today, July 1st is Canada Day. Everyone enjoys a much disserved day off to celebrate Canada's Birthday. We didn't do much this weekend. Just relaxed, watched the boats-freighters, wave runners, cruisers, pontoon, etc., etc. Every type of water craft you can think of was on the water this weekend. Everyone was enjoying the long weekend and the beautiful weather. July 4th is the last day of the combined American/Canadian long weekend. Today I am back at work for the week. The work is interesting and challenging, so the week will go quite quickly. We decided to break up the week by going on a cruise down the St. Clair river with other people we have met, at Braden Cundick Park. The neat thing about the cruise is the tour boat is a converted submarine chaser from WWII. We cruised down the St. Clair River on a converted submarine chaser, eating lunch, with numerous new friends. What a great day. Here we all are after the cruise.
We all enjoyed our day. There is a few missing from the photo. I finished the week of work, and I worked Wednesday, July 12th, and July 19th. On July 21st we went back to Windsor, to see Dr. Curran and have Doug's eye checked. Dr. Curran told him he could go and have his eyes checked. He hadn't been able to wear his glasses because of the corrective lens in the right eye. He had taken the lens out of his glasses and all was well, as long as he had his clip-on sunglasses on, if he forgot and took them off, he was getting some funny looks, because of the one lens in, one out look. The expression on people's faces were hilarious. I think they thought Doug was loosing it. He was happy to loose that look. July is flying along. We have to get the coach ready for our trip to Saskatchewan. We are leaving Aug. 17th. We want to replace all the hoses on the coach. Jody, our son, has volunteered to help Doug change them. We are going to their place on July 24th and will be there until July 29th. Their yard is quite full right now, but they made room for us. They have a giant jeep and the trailer to move it from one event to another. They like playing in the mud and/or rock climbing with it. Want to see the jeep? It is being repaired right now, but it will give you and idea of the size of it. Is that a big jeep or what! It isn't my son Jody's play toy, it is his wife Rachael's. Jody is the mechanic and body repair guy. They both have fun and that is the important thing. We soon had all of our repairs done, including a new seal in our right jack. With a motor home you always have something to fix, just like a stick home. With motor homes you use wrenches more then hammers though. The last week of July found us back at Branton Cundick Park. We went through all the basements, cupboards and closets looking for items we had not used in the past year. Wow! it is amazing what you accumulate (just have to have) then never use. This was the end of our first year full-timing so there was a lot of stuff that we thought we needed, but didn't. We loaded about four large bins and took them to our storage trailer. That took a lot of weight off the coach. The end of July is here. Not long now, before we leave for Lumsden, Saskatchewan. Doug's Uncle is waiting to see us.
