Nov. 27 to Dec. 3, 2006 Dec. 3 - We didn't do much today. I took my bike and rode around exploring the park. I also rode it up to the front of the park and purchased a Sunday paper. The paper is about 2" thick. Should keep us both reading for a while today. Doug decided to go for a bike ride around the park also. I really got my exercise today with at least three trips around this HUGE park. Dec. 2 - There are many friendly feathered friends here. When I set my satellite dish up yesterday I put it to close to the arm on our awning, so we had to move the dish and re-align it today. I had my computer sitting on the picnic table so that I could see the signal easier. A crane came along, hopped on the seat of the picnic table and thought he should take some computer lessons. Here is the new student. I didn't have the camera when he jumped onto the picnic table seat. The computer needed rescuing also, but I was able to get his photo later and here is the culprit.
My student was patiently waiting for me to bring the computer back out for him to play on. That bill would work great for the hunt and peck typing style. LOL! He was very patient, waiting, and waiting. Definitely not a shy bird. He makes himself right at home.
We had some other visitors also
Several residents had yard sales today. I took a tour around the park on my bike and then came back, grabbed my change wallet and went for a walk. There were a couple of items I was interested in and was able to purchase. That was our excitement for today. Here is a shot from Weather bug. This weather is really difficult to live with in the winter. 8) I hear a real cold front is blowing through the northern mid-east. Sorry guys! This is what we are dealing with - notice the time also
Enough said. We will enjoy the nice weather for everyone.
Dec. 1 - We took a back route to Fort Myers and saw some interesting houses and scenery, like this one
The photo has lots of shadows and reflections because Doug wasn't stopping for a photo of an old house, when there was a big truck behind him. It was an authentic and by the looks of it, un-restored Manor house. We will have to take a closer look one day when we are back in that area in January. The grandeur and beauty, even in its dilapidated state was something to see. If it could only speak, the stories of old, the Manor could tell. . Doug wasn't impressed driving in the heavy traffic once we got onto I-75 south, but he survived it. We drove right to Indian Creek RV Resort, no problems. They hustled us right through registration because they are expecting 60 units in today. Wow! that is more then Branton Cundick Park had in total. I asked about receiving mail here. They gave me the proper address and said to not put the name of the park in the address. This park is so large it has its own zip code. It is huge - 1,203 sites. It is also very hot here. Doug came close to having heat stroke from the heat hooking up the water and electric. As soon as the electric was hooked up we turned both air conditioners on and came in to cool off. We are not used to this high humidity, but we will become accustomed to it. Doug wasn't feeling well so I went out and assembled the internet satellite dish, pointed it and was online within an hour. We usually do it together in less then half an hour. I was slow in getting it lined up with the satellite and came in a couple of times to cool off before going back out to finish locking on to the satellite. Now I know I can assemble and align the whole system myself. Yay! Nov. 30- We had a lazy day and visited with Dave and Marion. Marion and I went for a walk around the campground and were able to photograph some of our fine feathered friends. I have to get a bird book to be able to identify them.
Marion is in the photo and gives you an idea how tall these cranes are.
We also saw some RV's that were receiving their decorations for Christmas.
it is really pretty at night. We are on the move to Fort Myers for December tomorrow. See you there. Nov. 29, - We left Spirit of the Suwannee and were heading east on I-10 shortly after breakfast. We arrived at Bee's RV near Clermont, FL around 11 a.m. We signed in, and found our site for the next two nights. We were backed in towards SR-27. This could be quite noisey. Doug was looking like he had run out of energy, so we had to get his lunch right away. He has learned that his meals have to be on time with the new meds for his diabetes. We were having lunch and we saw our friends pull in across the road. How nice is that? They are just one site over across the street from us. We went over to visit them shortly after we finished lunch. They have a new fifth wheel trailer which is VERY nice. It is like an apartment, except it has more storage then an apartment would have. We caught up on a lot of gossip and then headed back home for awhile. We don't have anything planned for tomorrow because we had came to this campground for these two days, just to check out what it is like and to go over to see Peggi and John of www.RVLiving.net, in Orange City. However, we had drove to Orange City last Sunday to see them instead, so had free time here. It worked out well because we had more time to visit with Dave and Marion.
Nov. 27 - The furnace didn't run very often last night. We like that. In fact it was so warm that I wanted to open the windows or turn on the air. We didn't because we knew it would cool down before the night was over. It was a warm night however, and today felt hot to us. It is nearly 7 p.m. and the door and windows are still open. This is the way we like it. We started preparing for our departure on Wednesday. We only have to drive about 150 miles, so it won't be a very long travel day. We will be meeting friends when we arrive, so are looking forward to seeing them again. We took a drive around through the park to look at all the Christmas decorations. WoW! They say that there are 5 million lights and we believe them. We enjoyed every one of them. I will be posting photos on a separate page once I have a chance to review them. If you are in the area, make sure you load up the kids and bring them to Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park to see the Christmas lights. It is $8.00 a car load Sunday through Thursday and $12.00 Friday and Saturday. You definitely get your moneys worth. Allow at least 1 hour to drive through the whole area. Make sure you put the windows down and turn the radio off. They have Christmas music playing all through the park.
