Oct. 25th -Our days are slipping away quickly, at Lakeshore, near Davison, MI.  We are on our way to see Pat today.  We haven't seen her since April.

We took the back route to Pats.  We just started going this way about a year ago.  We enjoy this route as we  aren't rushing in the I-69 and I-75 traffic.  We turn right (north) onto Irish Rd when we leave the park and when we reach the Clio Rd we go left (west) until we reach I-75.  We join I-75 just south of Birch Run.  Sure shortens our drive to see Pat on Beaver Rd., just north of Bay City.

Pat is looking great.  She has some serious medical problems, as does all of Doug's relatives from about 40 on.  Pat has lost over 20 pounds and is enjoying the benefits of a bit better health because of it.  We were very happy to see her looking so well.  We caught up on numerous family events and just had a good old chat.  She was happy to see us, and we were happy to see her, especially seeing her look so much better.  Keep up the good work Pat.  You are looking much better because of it.

We stayed a couple of hours, then we were on our way.  Our next stop was at the Ponderosa on Wilder Rd. in Bay City, MI.  We always stop there on the way back.  The buffet is always fresh and appetizing.  We have the senior buffet which is more then adequate for us.  After lunch we went to Meijjers for a few shopping needs.  Doug was able to buy his new Dr. Scholl shoes which he likes.  They had a buy one get a second pair for half price so he bought two pair.  He wanted me to buy a pair of shoes instead, but I have so many now, I don't really want any more at this time.

We returned to our coach at Lakeshore after a beautiful drive along same route which we had taken on the way up.  This route is so much more pretty for the fall colors and just the view in general.  It is also less stressful because we don't have any serious traffic to drive through.

Oct. 26 - Today is get ready for Jody and Rachael day and also get ready to move day.  Jody and Rachael are driving over from Ontario for the night.  Jody has done this every year since we started going south.  We always enjoy seeing them one last time before we start south.  We also hope to see them at Christmas, but that is a long way off yet and time will tell.

There was a few things I needed from the grocery store so I went to Kroger's while Doug emptied tanks and checked our fresh water supply.  They are turning the water off for the winter tomorrow here.  Not much else happening today.  It is a beautiful sunny day.  I didn't take many photos here this time, but you can check out   through this link .  We stop at this park when we are going south and returning in the spring.  We really enjoy our stay at this park.  It is considered one of our home parks so it is a free stay for us for up to two weeks at a time.

Jody and Rachael arrived Saturday afternoon.  We had planned a bar-b-que but the weather wasn't the greatest, so I could the burgers inside and we also had potato salad, macaroni and tuna salad, and coleslaw.  No one had room for desert.  That was good, because I hadn't made any.  Jody and Rachael had brought our last delivery of mail until we are not sure when.  Several months for sure.  We have everything set up for paying our bills online, so we really don't need our mail.  If it is real important and we have to have it, then they will courier it to us.

Jody, Rachael and I went shopping at K-Mart and Wal*Mart.  Ava, Jody and Rachael's little niece is getting some real nice gifts from Aunt Rachael.  She got her the cutest little Pooh Bear running shoes and some tan suede snow boots.  They are so cute and so small.   I forgot to take a photo of them.  They reminded me of the little cowboy boots Connie and Pat brought back from their trip to the west in 1973.  The boots were too small so Connie kept them for her own son, if and when she had one.  She did have one a few years later.

All to soon it was time for lights out.  Morning will come early.

Sunday morning we woke up to a heavy frost on the windshields of the coach and  car.  We had the drapes pulled in the coach, so the frost was good and thick.

Sunday morning we were all up before 7 a.m. We had are coffee and toast,  said our goodbyes to Jo and Rachael and were away.  It was a great day for a drive, especially when we were driving south.

The traffic was light and the colors were still quite nice.  I saw lots of wild life.  There was four deer pasturing on the bank of the road.  We also saw lots of wild turkeys, Canadian geese and some birds of prey (don't know if they were hawks or falcons, but would guess that they were hawks).

We had left Lakeshore in good time, but it was close to 5 p.m. by the time we arrived here at Indian Lakes.  It is a Naco Thousand Trails park and accepts Resorts of Distinction (we are ROD plus) and Resort Parks International (RPI).  We are staying here for two weeks, full hook-up and it doesn't cost us anything except for our yearly membership to Rod Plus which is less then $100.  We stay at ROD Plus parks as often as we can.  We left our seasonal site Oct. 7th and we have not paid for any camping sites since then.  All the parks we stay at in the ROD Plus system are usually 5 star.  We like that.  Our bank account does also 8-).  If you would like to know more about our memberships you can e-mail me and I will be happy to answer your questions.

We arrived, set up in their Phase IV section and settled in for the two weeks.  Monday morning we woke up, looked out the front window and saw this

We aren't supposed to have frost here yet!  It must have followed us from Michigan.  Lets hope that we don't get frosty mornings like this every morning while we are here.  If we do, we will be burning rubber, going south on I-65.

The day warmed up quickly and all is well with our world.  We haven't had to shovel snow in three years now and hope that it will be many more years before we have to even think that.  We like our nomad life the way it is.

We didn't do much of anything on the 30th.  It was just another lazy day of enjoying our surroundings.  I will take photos and let you see them next time.  This park covers 540 acres of very beautiful land.  There are lots of trees and little lakes, large fields and lots of nice roads to walk on or ride your bike.  We will put this park on our list of parks to return to.  We just like the feel of it.  We are far enough back from the road, not to hear road noise, at the same time we are only a few miles from Batesville and some nice stores to shop in.

Oct. 31 - Well, this is the last day of the month.  We don't think we will have any trick or treaters this year.  We will miss seeing all the excited painted faces and the little hands with their bags held out for their candy treats.  It also means that I won't have an excuse to buy candy and eat the any of the left overs.  Maybe there is a silver lining to not having any trick or treaters.

See you all next month, as we continue our slow trip to the south.  We will be in Texas before Christmas if all goes as planned.  We are going to go to Greensburg before we leave this area also.  We hear they have a tree growing out of their Court House roof.  This we have to check out for ourselves.

Till next time, keep smiling!!
